Election Day

So today is election day and I am still undecided on who I am going to vote for. I have no been really into this years election and don't know to much about either candidates. I have been trying to talk to different people lately and get some perspective on each candidate but everyone who has already decided is pretty much completely biased on their candidate. If I haven't decided by the end of the day I am just going to vote for McCain because he is republican and so is everyone else in my family.

Reflections on class

Something that I think has worked really well in this class is how social and open it is during class. Most classes in college are just read the text book and take notes and it this class we are interacting with each other and also learning at the same time. It makes class a lot more enjoyable when it is performed this way.
The worst thing about this class is all the different kind of work we have to do at the same time. We are constantly writing long essays and at the same time reading in Cion and other assignments. I guess this is just part of the college life but other than that I like this class a lot.
I like the worksheets better because usually unless there is specific items that you want to the editor to find then they probably won't spend much time editing your paper. It seems like people just write the later and pretty much B.S. it just to get it done.
For the most part I feel prepared for assignments. Going over similar essays in class helps a lot, along with the outlines you give in class.
The advice I would give for students next quarter is to read Cion when your suppose to and don't get behind.

Essay One Reflection

I think my essay was average overall. It could of been better if I spent more time on it but I had alot of other things to do and procrastinated a little too much. I followed all the guidelines and rules but the material I wrote could of been better.
I feel like the best part of my essay is how I clearly stated my view of the subject. It is clear that I disagreed with Rafelman and I thought I did a good job on showing that.
I wish I would of spent more time of this whole essay in general but more specifically putting in citations and quotes to help back up my point of view. I think it would be a lot stronger response if I would of done this a little more.
The hardest part of this essay was just getting started. That usually is my number one problem when I'm writing; to just get the paper started. And once I get going I usually am able to put together a good paper.
No i don't feel like I put forth the expected effort. I put enough in to get a decent grade but if I want to get really good grades then I'm going to have to start putting some work time into my writings.
I feel like my essay should be a high C or low B. I met all the requirements and explained my point of view on the topic but probably could of elaborated and put some more "back up" in my work.

My career

When I first entered this major I thought this was the best major for me, no question. As I go through the classes and learn more and more I begin to question my decision to enter this major. But my initial dream for this major was to eventually work for the Browns and work my way up the ranks until I became GM. The problem with this is that it is extremely hard to be a GM and it is a huge responsiblity that I hope one day I will be capable of doing.

My Favorite Essay

Since all my writings are very interesting and prestigious it is very hard for me to pick a favorite one but since I have to I am going to go with a book I wrote in an 5th grade. It was a story about a young kid who's dream was to become a professional basketball player. He grew up in a poorer community and had many hardships throughout his life which challenged him on reaching his goal. In the end he perseveres all obstacles and becomes a professional basketball player.

Summary/ Strong Response Paper #1

I chose to write about the essay "The Party Line" in the book Exploring Language. This essay intestests me because I don't really agree with much of what it says, if any. This women believes that there is apparently only certain topics you can talk about that are interesting and claims that men are boring because they talk about defferent topics then women. I plan on writing about how I disagree with this essay because it is so narrow sighted and judgmental towards men.

Real Men Don't

"It caricatures males as inheretly evil, a class of privliged opppressors who hate and fear women."
I don't believe men hate nor fear women. Men tend to think that women are inferior to them but that does not necessarily mean men hate or fear women. Women are what men are attracted to and to hate someone who you see as attractive is not something that makes sense to me.

"Men only want to talk about business, they don't want to get into personnel stuff"
I don't agree with this quote. Men like to talk about business but at the same time they will talk about personnel stuff. Some men like to hide personnel stuff so that's why I think this assumption was created.
